SyncScores

My iPhone using friends....... Have you downloaded it yet?? Here is my hubby's newest app. This is an iMessage app, a new type of experience for the latest iOS.

Download it here: SyncScores

Once downloaded (it's FREE), you'll use it from your text/iMessage area. When you're in a text message/iMessage in the new iOS you'll notice that universal symbol for app (in blue on the image below), when you click there you'll see all your new iMessage Apps!! Fun stuff!

So what's it do, you ask? SyncScores is a fun way to keep your family and friends informed of the latest “scores” from any of your favorite sports. Are you at your son's soccer games while your spouse is off at golf? Send him junior's game updates in real time. Like to brag how your favorite NFL team is doing? Update your friends as you chat about the plays. You can get creative too! On my birthday I was exploring the new app and sent the latest "score" to hubby. 34 to 40 to my OLD man hehe.

How's it work? When the first person uses the app to insert a scoreboard into their iMessage chat interface they can update the "parts" of the scoreboard. Here you see the basic scoreboard. Additional sports scoreboards have the necessary parts for their sports like what "Down" it is for football. All of these fields are editable and update-able.

Here you see the Football scoreboard as it looks in my texting app. Want the rest of the details, like what Down it is and which yard the ball is on? Just click to view the expanded Scoreboard.

Once updated with a "new" score by your friend or yourself, the previous scoreboard image shrinks up, not taking up your whole chat field and the new updated one is front and center. In the above image you can see this.

New sports scoreboards are on the way! Check back soon!

FarFaria App. Giveaway!!

Nolan is big into new "games" on his phone so I love finding quality apps for him. I got the chance to try out a subscription to FarFaria and it's been a huge hit!! FarFaria has a free app which lets you have one interactive ebook a day but they also offer subscription services which allow the books to be unlimited. Subscriptions start at $4.99/mo. This isn't like a normal ebook which can't be done alone with non readers. Instead it reads each page while highlighting the words. The reading is enthusiastic and real just how you'd read to your children.

Nolan is normally a bit bored by book only apps but immediately was enthralled with this. I downloaded the subscription service to my phone and the free trial to his. After his one free book he becomes really upset that he couldn't have more and begged me to fix it on his phone. In fact, his first day being introduced to FarFaria he did not ask for TV at all during his brother's nap time (his quiet time/normal television time).

This app is available for iPad, iPhone, and Android devices. There are over 800 illustrated children's books and five more are added each week!

They even offer a gift subscription which would be an awesome gift to receive from grandma or grandpa!! Check out and enter our giveaway for your chance to win a three month subscription!!

TheO SmartBall Review and Giveaway!!

As the wife of an iOS developer (Apple apps for those of you who aren't in IT), we are always looking for fun educational applications for the boys for early learning. They have our old devices as their own "phones" or "remotes" as Carter calls them.

I recently got to try out TheO SmartBall - For kids pre-school to 5th grade. Simply put it's a soft foam ball that uses an app on your phone (iphone, ipod touch, or android devices) to initiate learning while they play. You insert your device directly into the ball (easy to follow tutorial is available online) and get started. TheO™ SmartBall comes with 12 free apps to get you started. Additional apps are available on iTunes and Google Play, and they are constantly developing more. Check out my giveaway at the bottom of this blog post for your chance to win your own TheO SmartBall!!

I love the wide range of apps available which help teach the basics from colors and letter to numbers and shapes.  The newest series Discover! includes fun apps such as
  • Discover Animals by Habitat
  • Discover Bodies
  • Discover Careers
  • Discover Colors
  • Discover Items on a Farm
  • Discover Items in a House
  • Discover Items in a School
  • Discover Objects by Size
  • Discover Textures
  • Discover US States and Capitals
There are even apps for the older kiddos (through ~5th grade) with things like multiplication tables and US States and Capitals.

Nolan and Carter have both been playing with the SmartBall. It's great in that it keeps Carter's attention more than a simple app would. The ball itself though isn't actually required to use the apps and it doesn't have things like buttons to press to make it work etc. but it's still fun and more active approach to iPhone or Android fun. Together the boys love the free Hot Potato game!! Check it out.

Magic Obama!!

Hubby's latest iphone/ipad app collaboration is live in the Apple store. You can check it out here. With the election coming up politics are all the rage. Remember your favorite "magic" pool ball toy you used to ask questions too? Now you can shake rattle and roll with Obama while finding out how he'd answer your best questions. All spoken in his actual voice and phrases he really said, it's quite comical.

Don't worry...like Obama, dislike? This app isn't against him or for him. It's just political humor! Share with all your friends!!! Future characters coming include Mitt Romney and Ron Paul.

Purchase in the Apple store: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/magic-obama/id535115496?mt=8&ls=1
